1. Agreement and eligibility
These terms govern your use of Speak-O. By installing or using the extension, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Speak-O.
You must be legally able to enter this agreement and authorized to use the Source Pages, Article content, and Provider accounts you connect. Speak-O is not intended for children.
2. What the product does
Speak-O is an open-source Chrome Article Reader. It extracts a user-requested Article or Selection, creates an Article Snapshot, speaks one Reading Session through an explicitly selected Speech Provider, and maps highlighting back to the original Source Page.
Speak-O is an independent Rekh product. It does not promise universal extraction support, operate a Rekh speech backend, provide an account or subscription, download completed audio, read ordinary social timelines, support PDFs, or work in every browser.
3. Your responsibility
- Use Speak-O only on content and devices you are authorized to access.
- Keep your Chrome profile and Provider Credentials secure.
- Review the Provider's processing, retention, and billing policies before connecting it.
- Confirm that the extracted Article is the content you intended to hear.
- Do not send real Article text or Provider Credentials to Rekh support.
4. Third-party Speech Providers
Chrome Voice, ElevenLabs, and Speechify are separate Speech Providers. You choose the Provider for a Reading Session, and Speak-O does not silently fail over between Providers. Cloud Voice uses your own Provider account, credential, usage allowance, and the Provider's terms. Rekh is not responsible for Provider availability, pricing, content processing, or billing.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use Speak-O to violate another person's rights, evade access controls, misuse a Provider account, interfere with Chrome or a Source Page, distribute malicious content, probe the extension or Provider endpoints, or violate applicable law.
6. Availability and disclaimers
Speak-O is provided as an open-source public beta. Source Pages, Chrome APIs, operating-system Voices, Provider APIs, browser security controls, and extraction behavior can change. We do not promise continuous availability, error-free operation, universal Article support, accurate speech for every page, or valid word-level Speech Alignment for every Cloud Voice response.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rekh will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, loss of profits or data, Provider Usage, or activity arising from use of or inability to use Speak-O. Nothing here excludes liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
7. Source and license
Speak-O source code is available in the public GitHub repository under the Apache-2.0 license. Third-party dependencies and Provider services remain subject to their own terms and licenses.
8. Ending use
You may stop using Speak-O, disconnect a Provider, clear its extension storage, or uninstall it at any time. Speak-O has no Rekh account to close. Uninstalling does not change data that a third-party Provider already processed under its own policy.
9. General terms
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the agreement between you and Rekh for Speak-O. If one provision is unenforceable, the rest continues. We may update these terms; continued use after an effective update means you accept the revised terms. These terms are governed by the laws of India, subject to mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
